Electrical design engineer

Job description

In this role, you will design quality concepts that comply with applicable laws, standards, regulations and design criteria. He/she prepares, coordinates and ensures the implementation of electrical power distribution systems, their control and associated instrumentation, using STAS equipment. The engineer works as part of a multidisciplinary team, mainly comprising draftsmen, engineers, technicians and automation programmers;


EXAMPLES OF TASKS TO BE CARRIED OUT:

  • Identify various project activities, prepare estimates and project schedules;
  • Coordinate and participate in the realization of electrical, instrumentation and control design outputs for various equipment. (Example: power boxes and motor control centers, PLC control boxes, industrial Ethernet control network architecture);
  • Ensure compliance with laws, standards, regulations and design criteria;
  • Participate actively in the resolution of technical problems;
  • Ensure that mechanical structures comply with equipment electrical specifications, in collaboration with mechanical designers;
  • Participate in the selection of electrical/electronic components for technologies;
  • Analyze and interpret technical plans, drawings and specifications;
  • Provide technical support to various departments such as technical writing, production, solution design, R&D and the commissioning team;
  • Develop innovative concepts to create and integrate new technologies;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technologies, products and standards;

Job requirements

TRAINING & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
  • 5 to 10 years' relevant experience;
  • Good knowledge of automated systems;
  • Good knowledge of machine design/safety standards, electromechanics and process instrumentation;
  • Intermediate level of English;
